Job Description:
Budget Title: Residence Hall Director (SL-2) Salary: $30,568, 10-month college year Exciting things are happening at Binghamton University and we have RD positions available! Our Residential Life program serves 6,000+ students within five residential colleges and two apartment-style communities. We strive to support the academic mission of the University by providing residents with a living-learning experience through our collegiate structure. We are strongly committed to the celebration of diversity and seek staff members to serve as role models with the ability to work with a widely diverse resident population. Our 24 RD's provide an atmosphere that enhances the development of students while assuming responsibility for management and administration of a mixed-gender residence hall housing 180-350 students of different academic class levels. As a live-in staff member, the RD: - works on a staff of 3-5 RDs, in an area of 1,000-1,400 residents
- directly supervises 6-10 Resident Assistants
- develops activities emphasizing leadership & community
- promotes diversity through role modeling, challenging others, and respect
- serves as a charging administrator for campus judicial process with full sanctioning abilities
- works closely with area Faculty Master to enhance out-of-classroom experience
- has autonomy in running their building while working in a team atmosphere
- serves on a departmental committee
- works on a collateral assignment within the department, or at another office within the University
- serves as a resource person to hall and area government
- works with maintenance staff to preserve and enhance facilities
- participates in evening and weekend duty rotation within area
- is directly supervised by the Assistant Director of the assigned area
Requirements:
A Bachelors degree and one-year post undergraduate experience is required. A Masters degree in College Student Personnel or related field is preferred. Other essential qualities include excellent organizational, administrative, communication, leadership, decision-making skills and the ability to work autonomously in a team atmosphere.
Additional Information:
