Job Description:
Budget Title: Student Activities Assistant Director (SL-3) Salary: $42,000-$45,000 The OCC (Off Campus College) Office seeks an energetic professional to work with Binghamton University's fraternity and sorority community, encompassing the activities of 52 chapters. The Assistant Director of Greek Affairs reports to the Director of Off Campus College within the Division of Student Affairs. The Fraternity/Sorority Affairs program promotes growth and development of students affiliated with Greek letter organizations, with emphasis on academic achievement, leadership, and personal wellness. At the same time, the office promotes the Greek system as an integral and productive part of the University. Responsibilities include: Chair the Binghamton Greek Leadership Association; advise committees; consult with chapters on programming/procedures Member of Fraternity/Sorority Board of Directors; recommend to the university systemic and policy changes for enhancement/development Supervise procedures/systems for records maintenance; coordinate reporting processes Chapter recognition/assessment; assure compliance with university standards while measuring progress toward chapter goals Develop/implement training (Judicial Board); develop risk management programs, award program, annual Greek Week Advise councils and officers; establish meetings of chapter advisors; coordinate conferences; maintain communication between university and national offices of fraternities/sororities; maintain resource library; facilitate contact with other colleges/chapter advisors and national/regional headquarters of fraternities and sororities. Inform Director/staff members of developments in local or professional areas of Greek Life; anticipate problems or issues Assist students with concerns; serve as liaison to other student life departments, particularly Residential Life.
Requirements:
A Bachelors degree is required. A Masters Degree in Student Development or related field is preferred. One to three years professional experience is required, preferably in a higher education setting. Membership in a Greek affiliated organization is required. The salary is competitive and includes a benefits package. Strong administrative, organizational and communication skills are essential; knowledge of database/spreadsheet programs (i.e. Access/Excel) a plus. Candidate should possess professional leadership, a collaborative approach to problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
