Job Description:
Budget Title: Staff Assistant (SL-2) Salary: $30,568 (college year full) This position will assist the Associate Director of Health Education in the development, coordination, presentation and evaluation of campus community health education programs and/or initiatives. Health promotion and prevention initiatives addressed will include: alcohol and other drugs, sexual health, women's health, men's health, behavioral change, risk reduction, sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, stress management, self-care management and promotion, and other initiatives as deemed necessary. Responsibilities include: - Collaborate with campus partners (i.e., Office of Student Conduct, Residential Life, University Counseling Center) regarding mutually agreed upon health promotion and prevention initiatives
- Oversight of daily operations of the REACH peer education program, including curriculum development, teaching, supervising peers, committee work and coordination of various outreach initiatives
- Collaborate with Student Affairs offices and student organizations to enhance outreach to various constituencies
- Assist the Associate Director of Health Education in the implementation of a campus-wide social norms marketing campaign designed to correct student misperceptions regarding the role and extent of alcohol use on campus
- Respond to campus community requests for health promotion/prevention programs
- Assist in the scripting and filming of health promotion/prevention videos podcasts
- Assist in the iMac technology initiative as needed
- Assist in the development of needs assessment and evaluative tools for all health promotion /prevention initiatives/strategies
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in public health, health promotion, or a related field is required. Masters degree is preferred. Also required are the following: - Minimum of three years' experience working in a health promotion program
- Documented success in health promotion program design, implementation, and evaluation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on public speaking
- Experience with technological tools, such as iMac PC, video and photography, marketing using Facebook/Twitter, online assessment/evaluation surveys.
Preferred qualifications include experience working with high school and/or college age students, and experience working with a peer education or mediation program.
