Job Description:
Budget Title: Assistant Vice President (Management/Confidential, MP-3) Salary: $125,000 The Assistant Vice President for Development reports to the Vice President for External Affairs/Executive Director of the Binghamton University Foundation, and is a member of the senior management team of the Division of External Affairs. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Vice President for Development will be a significant partner in leading the University's fundraising efforts by planning, developing, and directing comprehensive major gift fundraising efforts. She/he will develop, refine and implement solicitation and stewardship strategies and work collaboratively across schools and units to build upon Binghamton University's fundraising success. The position will supervise and mentor directors of development, maintain a portfolio of major gift prospects, support interdisciplinary and special initiatives fundraising, and will oversee the research and prospect management program and possibly the annual giving program. The Assistant Vice President for Development will be responsible for a wide range of activities including the following areas: - Major and Principal Gifts Fundraising
- Campaign Support
- Supervision of Directors of Development, and Prospect Research and Management
- Major Gifts Infrastructure Development and Support
- Member of Division of External Affairs Senior Management Team
- Working closely with key Foundation Board of Directors leadership and other volunteers
Requirements:
- Demonstrated successful experience and effectiveness in major gift fundraising, preferably in an educational setting, for at least eight to ten years.
- At least five years experience supervising fundraising staff, hiring fundraisers and administrative support, conducting evaluations and providing constructive feedback, and managing personnel actions.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement programs that support effective fundraising, preferably in a complex university environment.
- Significant experience staffing major gift volunteers; campaign volunteer management preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple, complex fundraising activities simultaneously.
- Ability to plan and implement a fundraising plan.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High level of creativity, initiative, and motivation. Ability to travel frequently.
- Bachelors degree (or higher) is required. Graduate degree preferred.
