Job Description:

Budget Title: Assistant Facilities Program Coordinator (SL-3)

Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications

Capital Project Coordinators work with the PF Design and Planning teams, State University Construction Fund (FUND), Dormitory Authority (DASNY), Office of General Services (OGS), Architects, Engineers, Landscape Architects, and on-campus departments on the design and construction of Capital and Campus Let Projects, focusing on a variety of needs based on the project and specific coordination role, including items such as campus impacts, construction inspections, project budgets, payments and schedules.

Capital Project Coordinators work closely with campus members to determine the project facility needs in order to provide the best possible facility within the budget allotted for the project. They concentrate efforts on minimizing the negative impacts of construction on the operation of the campus, anticipate potential problems and work toward prevention, and maintain communication with all entities.  Attends job meetings, reviews documents, produces and confirms accuracy of project meeting minutes. Specific reviews are conducted with interested committees/groups on the campus such as Services for Students with Disabilities and the Committee on the University Environment.  Capital Project Coordinators will be assigned design/coordination work in association with fellow Campus Design professionals. 

The Project Coordinator is a 95% capital-funded salaried professional position, anticipated to last one year with possibility of renewal thereafter, and is eligible for the NYS benefits package. 

Requirements:

EDUCATION

Associates degree (or higher) in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Technology or related field is required. Bachelors degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE 

Minimum of two years experience is required in capital project design and construction management, construction industry, construction supervision, architecture, engineering or related field (five years experience preferred).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical knowledge of design and construction industries
  • Ability to comprehend construction drawings and specifications and prepare pertinent review comments
  • MS Word and Excel proficiency

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational skills; estimating and project scheduling software experience; building renovation designs; specification writing experience; AutoCAD 2008 software proficiency; working knowledge of NYS Building Codes, National Electrical Code and other NFPA standards.
